Change background color

Hi

How can I change the background color(instead of the normal white color) of my terminal everytime I execute a file to make the contents of the file look more interesting? Do I have to change anything in the settings or add extra lines to the file that I have created?

Thanks!!

Are you using Gnome, KDE or.........? There are many different terminal programs.

For example I am using Slackware with Windowmaker and use Aterm for my terminal.

I'm using Gnome, i suppose ;)

Ok, so I am assuming you are using gnome-terminal. Open the terminal window and select help; should be a subsection called "Preferences" srcoll through that. There should be two catagories that will interest you colours & effects.
