Certification questions
 

Hello everyone;

Although I am not new to Linux, I am new to this forum. I just set up my account and I thought I would use this opportunity to ask my first question: I have just obtained my Linux + / LPIC-1 certification and ultimate, goal is to obtain the RedHat (RHCSA/RHCE) certification. I was wondering, does any know whether or not it is worth pursuing LPIC-2 first and then go for the RHCSA/RHCE or just start prepping for it? Any expert out there who has travel this path, please response with your best advise. Thanks

You should have enough common sense to answer that self-evident question. The pursuit of LPI is wider than that of red hat. But if you think tying your a*s to red hat is wise then go for RHC. However, if you think about employment then learn and enjoy Linux in all its capabilities; for in the battle ground of competition it is talent and skills that count, certifications become useless when the boss finds out you are not solving his PROBLEM.

I, as a matter of fact, my sole purposed for obtaining the certification is so that I can get a better employment opportunity. While I do have talents skills and experiences, most employers rather see that you have the competency to pass the certification test before they can hire you contrary to just telling that you have the skills/talents. I know that it’s not fair to the talented and skill-full technicians who do not have any certifications, but this is a reality. Obviously, you are against the current system as the tone of your response expresses frustrations and resentment. I appreciate your honesty, but I was not looking for an insult from those who is not an expert at the subject matter. I was looking for some feedback from those who have traveled on similar path.
