Certain .rar files don't extract with unrar installed.

For some reason certain .rar files are not extracting even with the unrar-free package installed.

I've tried with 7zip, file-roller (which I believe uses unrar anyway) and unrar, but no luck.

This happens with 75% of .rar files.

What packages/codecs might I be missing to cause this?

Please provide the exact error message you are getting.

In 7zip it gives me "Unsupported method", unrar just lists the files with "Failed", then gives me "47 failed" etc., and file-roller claims to have extracted but there's no actual output.

I can see the files listed within the archive and their filesizes.

Sounds like these files are part of a multipart archive. Do you have all the files for the archive?

Also when asked for the error messages make sure to copy and paste the exact error message in code tags that way we have all the information. A small typo can make all the difference.
