[RESOLVED] resolved! - centos5.2 32bit not boot!
 

There is a partiotns of centos 5.2 32bit, but not boot.

I have two oses, ine is vista x64 and centos 5.2 32bit.
Whenever I boot my pc, I open cmos boot selector.

Today I booted vista x64 and received message "missing ntldr, and insert vista cd, and try to recover." So I did.

After finishing my work, I returned centos, I met "system not found".

So I checked with system tools.

At centos livecd,
# chroot /mnt/sysimage
# file not found

So I checked with testdisk of linux systemrescue cd at www.sysresccd.org.
With comamands "quicksearch, deeper search", I can see ntfs/hpfs.

However acronis recovery expert shows completes centos partition at auto, manual modes as attatched screenshot.

how can I recover centos and boot this box?

Grub or Lilo
 

Windows recovery normally deletes grub or lilo from your system. You will need to re-install whichever you had installed (never used Centos so I don't know which one it uses).

There are some datas I didn't backup.

Bootloader.
 

For more information on which bootloader you are using will have to either look on the Cento's website or google it.

Re-installing the boot-loader does not delete windows or centos, just allows you to boot operating systems.

I had a similiar problem

I used EasyBCD on vista, it's a tool that let you edit vista's bootloader. Just add an entry for Linux and choose "grub is not installed"

Reboot and when you choose that linux entry it will boot into it.

you can use supergrub
http://www.supergrubdisk.org/
which will automatically restore your centos' grub.

How to install bootloader?
 

I've post this questions two dys ago, and got two recomandations, however I could not find solution at google.

Even super grub disk doesn't work on my hard disk.

If possible, please let me know how to install grub on my troubled hard disk.

Is it an LVM partition?
You must have a boot partition then?
Do you know which partitions you have and what is where?
Where is grub installed?
Can you access your data (with ls and vi) from systemrescueCD?
Can you post your grub menu.lst file?

Wait a minute... Is your /boot partition a NTFS partition?

No, this disk is for centos.

The above file list is made by vist, however it is from data recovery program - maybe r-studio. And this recovery program recovered 2/3 of lvm partition.

but could not make this disk bootable.

do you know which device it is?
if you don't know, please post the output of fdisk -l (from centos cd)
