Hi,

I was trying to install HP laserjet 3055. I was trying to install hplip-2.7.12,I got a message "make command failed with status code 2". Any one please tell me how to tackle this issue. I had already installed all the dependencies required for the installation of this package.

Why are you building hplip???? No need CentOS comes with the hpijs rpm package which is all you need;

rpm -qa hplijs

Use the browser based cups configuration: http://127.0.0.1:631 to configure the printer.

Printer Installation

Sir,

I am new to the linux world. I want to know how to install HP laserjet 3055 printer to my centos4.4 machine. I had already configured the cups by giving an IP address to the machine and my printer is working fine. As you know this model is a multipurpose one, it supports printer, scanner and Fax. So to install scanner , i searched for web pages that gives the downloadable software for centos4.4. As centos4.4 donot support this printer directly, some dependencies were also needed to be downloaded. I downloaded and installed all the dependencies and then i followed their instruction using make command i got the error message make command failed with error code 2.

http://hplip.sourceforge.net/install...os/centos.html

The above mentioned is the link from where I got the instruction. Sir, Please sort out this problem.

OK, first scanning is not supported with the printer on the network using an IP address.

Second I told you what is needed to install scanning when the printer is connected locally via the printer port or USB port.

Third if you want the newer HPLIP 1.7.4 as per your link then get the source rpm from Fedora Core 6 and rebuild;

Direct link: http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu...-3.fc6.src.rpm

Build command: rpmbuild -bb --define 'dist .c4' hplip.spec
