CentOS won't let me log in as anybody!

I am currently using CentOS and set it up by the Perfect Server config on howtoforge. I tried to log into it and is says " 'root' no such user". It seems that my passwd file is nowhere to be found and ISPconfig seems to have shadowed them but i don't know how because i never enabled it. I need advice!

If it's a local machine and you didn't tweak /etc/inittab (sulogin) then try booting into runlevel 1 to correct things?
