Question CentOS wireless not working BCM4313

Hi,

I installed CentOS 6.4 on my Dell Inspiron N5050 which unfortunately comes with BCM4313 wireless card that I can't get to work. I have been googling for the past 7 days and I tried different solutions but none of them work. I used to have Linux Mint 13 installed on this laptop and the wireless worked fine. I really like CentOS and I want to keep it. Can you help?
Thanks

Hi ceantuco,

I used to compile my own driver for Fedora using the following link http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php . I think this has all the information you need.

Hi Arfasmif, thanks for your response. I followed all the instructions on that website but still, my wireless does not work. It's frustrating!

Did the compile of the driver work? If so, then it is likely that you have missed a step somewhere, or maybe you have physically turned off the wireless on your laptop (does it have such a switch?).

I 've had wireless adapters made specifically for Windows 7 and 8 that would not work on linux. Ultimately, I have used an old wireless adapter that I've had for years.

Check out this hardware report on the ubuntu forums on this very Broadcom adapter: (often solutions for ubuntu are similar to other distros)

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2134899

Hope this helps.
Best wishes!

Yeah, I checked the link above but there is too many steps... sorry I am kinda lazy. I just installed OpenSuse and I got it working with only 2 commands! Thank you guys!
