Just run the installer but don't choose to install any Desktop Environments or X.

Hi,

Select Customize Package Selection during the installation. This should still be selectable.

you can use the kickstart option to install the server from a Full DVD and use "skipx" in your kickstart files.

Ok, if you need more information, look it up. Google has lots, including documents on the CentOS forum:

http://www.centos.org/docs/2/rhl-cg-en-7.2/p263.html

Did you try to look???

If you're not short of disk, just leave the X packages there and don't use them. Edit /etc/inittab and change the default runlevel to 3:

Code:
id:3:initdefault:
Then reboot and you're in console mode.

If you're running X now there'll be a 5 in there on the initdefault line.
