Hello all responders. Finally got a CENTOS 7 system up and running, thanks to your combined help. The problem was multi-fold. Firstly, the DVD burn process on one PC was not successful. Secondly, the hard disk was not cleaned out. Thirdly, I have a large (40inch) TV screen hooked up to the PC and this in some way gave a problem during boot of the DVD. Even now, there is a problem at the very beginning of boot, where I get an error, but it does eventually boot to CENTOS 7.

Yes JaseP, CENTOS 7 is somewhat different to the RHEL_4 that I was using and it is much more friendly now. At the moment I struggle to find my way around the system, with respect to permissions, but other than that there is some familiarity with the old RHEL_4 system that I am used to.

As I mentioned, I have a 40" TV screen hooked up through a HDMI cable and every time I boot, it starts the logon screen to the integrated display that is with the PC and I have to log on there before it transfers over to the larger screen (better for my eyes). Any ideas how to set the system up to only display to the HDMI connected screen ?

You should be able to shut off the integrated display adapter in the BIOS (or at least change the priority so it defaults to the TV).
