You can use RAID mechanism.

Hi
You can:
1) dd to clone whole hard disk;
2) rsync to create filesystem snapshot on the backup hard drive. Also installation of the grub is needed on the backup hdd.

hi
thanks for reply can you pls give me the exact process or steps to clone using dd and how to use rsync to create files system and you provide rsync of centos 6 i have centos5.3

rsync is available (Centos5) from the rpmforge.

You are aware that Centos only supports the most current minor release of each version? Of the Centos5.X line only 5.5 is (currently) supported. Moving from Centos5.3 to 5.5 is only a yum update away.
