CentOS 7: system manager and its configuration file?

Quote:
man systemd.swap:
...

FSTAB
Swap units may either be configured via unit files, or via /etc/fstab (see fstab(5) for details). Swaps listed in /etc/fstab will be converted into native units dynamically at boot and when the configuration of the system manager is reloaded. See systemd-fstab-generator(8) for details about the conversion.

...
Which daemon is the system manager?
>Is it systemd? I could not think of any other.

What is the name of the configuration file?
>Is it the default target as obtained from command:
systemctl get-default

If you type "man systemd" you'll see it description says it is the system manager:

[QUOTE]DESCRIPTION
systemd is a system and service manager for Linux operating systems.
When run as first process on boot (as PID 1), it acts as init system
that brings up and maintains userspace services.[QUOTE]

Further review of that man page while searching for "configuration" gives you a fair amount of detail of the files. It will also point you to other man pages.
