Centos 6.3 installation DVD recognition

I am very new to Linux.

I copied the CENTOS ISO image (CentOS-6.3-x86_64-bin-DVD1) on a DVD. I checked the check sum and looks right. When I try to boot from it, DVD is not recogonized (the boot sequence is set to look for DVD drive first).

I have 2 hard drives and planning to install linux on the second drive. The first one has Windows 7 pro 64 bit.

Any pointers to documentation on installation would be highly helpful.

You have to burn the disk as a image.

Just copying files to the disk doesn't include boot info. Use utils like imageburn, poweriso, and burn the iso as a disk image.

And on win 7 there is a old program ( that works on the 64 bit version)

called "CDburnerXP"

yes the name sounds like a virus, but it is a real program

it is a cygwin build of a linux program

Just like jmc1987 said, you have to burn it as image.

Also i would recommend installing the minimal version of your preferred Linux distribution.

Thank You so much. I installed CentOS using a USB flash drive.
I will keep this thread for future use.
