Anyone know what driver or software is required to transfer music, pictures and video from a PC with a Linux OS to a Samsung Intensity II cell phone?

Have you tried plugging in the phone and seeing if it shows up as a removable device? That would be the best method, from there it's just copying and pasting from PC to phone. If that doesn't work maybe you can transfer the media to the phones memory card if applicable, I'm not sure what the specs are on that model. Is it a Droid? If so an option would be to root the device and then your possibilities are endless.

yeah, it does show up as a removable device once I plug it in on USB mode. However, when I try to copy and paste anything to the memory card it not only doesnt show up on the phone, but any attempt to access the memory card prompts the following message "please insert memory card" or "no memory card present". the card will continue to be unrecognized until I use the phone to reformat it.

From my experience with phones the data has to be put in the proper folders in which the applications read from, so .mp3 files in mp3 apps Music folder, .jpg in DCIM/100CAMERA of photo app folder, and .txt in Documents type folder. They can't be piled all in a single folder unless you have a good photo manager app installed on that phone.

Interesting, I will keep that in mind as I try again.

Didn't work and now the phone cant even recognize the card.

you must 'unmount' or 'safely remove' such devices to avoid filesystem corruption.
command 'sync' flushes the cache, but its perhaps redundant if the above is used.

I just looked at the specs for this phone.

It does not appear to be an Android or other kind of "smart phone," rather just a plain old cell phone with some media capabilities. I hate to sound snarky, but what does the manual say about transferring files to it?
