Question CDRW compatibility

I'm thinking of getting either a Sony, CyberDrive, or Mitsumi CDRW for the Linux machine I will be building. Will I have any compatibility problems with any of those brands? Any suggestions/input?

Also, just out of curiosity, which system is better as far as hardware compatibility goes - Redhat 9 or SuSE 8.2?
