cdrecord for normal user?
 

okay elsewhere in the board people were making suggestions about burning cd's in the CLI and just skipping the front-ends, whoever mentioned this THANK YOU! its a lot easier in the CLI and i have my aliases set up just how i like em ^_^. anyway my problem is this, cdrecord only works with root, no problem, i just chmod the sucker and WHAM my normal users can use it no problem, however cdrecord uses some other apps (setpriority() and RR-Scheduler) which sometimes causes my CDs to play back a little odd. Like one time, I burned a cd not in root and the first 3 tracks played fine, however the next 2 would occasionally speed up for about half a second and then go back to normal speed (also my anti-shock stopped working around here), after the first 5 the songs wouldn't play anymore :-\. I have burned CDs succefully under a normal user but im not a fan of coasters so id like to get this all straightened out ^_~.

So how can I make it so the additional apps or whatever can be run by non-root? i tried locate to find them but nothing came up... so im at a loss. any help would be greatly appreciated :D

Easiest way possible is to download/install X-CD-Roast, and during the initial setup (or thereafter as root) you can have it setup to work as a non-root user. This adjusts all the permissions correctly so you don't have to. However, should you desire to do it yourself afterwards, simply scroll up the log to see what was 'done'.
