cdrecord bailing out !!!!!
Hi,
I am using Fedora Core 1
I can't burn CD's using the cdrecord command
I have a samsung cd-writer and a samsung cd-rom
Secondry ide master : Samsung CD-ROM
Secondry ide slave : Samsung CD-R/RW
The output of the commands is :-
[root@localhost root]# cdrecord -scanbus
Cdrecord-Clone 2.01a19 (i686-redhat-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2003 Jrg Schilling
Linux sg driver version: 3.1.25
Using libscg version 'schily-0.7'
cdrecord: Warning: using inofficial libscg transport code version (schily - Red Hat-scsi-linux-sg.c-1.75-RH '@(#)scsi-linux-sg.c 1.75 02/10/21 Copyright 1997 J. Schilling').

0,3,0 3) *
0,4,0 4) *
0,5,0 5) *
0,6,0 6) *
0,7,0 7) *
I give the following command to write to the CD
[root@localhost root]#cdrecord dev=0,0,0 -audio song.mp3
and it gives me output
error trying to open /dev/scd0 exclusively retrying in one second...........................
error trying to open /dev/scd0 exclusively retrying in one second...........................
error trying to open /dev/scd0 exclusively retrying in one second...........................
error trying to open /dev/scd0 exclusively retrying in one second...........................
error trying to open /dev/scd0 exclusively retrying in one second...........................
bailing out...........................
I guess the error is because it tries to open/write with the cd-rom as it is the master
Isn't there a way to burn CD's with the writer without having to make it as the
master.
Thanx

It's not trying to open the CD-ROM at all. It does show it attempting to open the CD-RW, but it looks like something else may already have it in use.

I experience one more problem. On bootup sometimes my CD-R/RW ejects out
automatically. It does not happen always but occasionally it does.
Also sometimes my CD-R/RW ejects out by itself without my doing anything
It is always the CD-R/RW and never the CD-ROM
Is it related to this error in burning and how can i rectify that?

also .mp3 files have to be converted to wav files.
are you using cdrecord as root if not you may need to chmod 4755 /usr/bin/cdrecord if im not mistaken.
