CD Sound Problems

ok this sounds dead odd but i have a problem with my sound only with cds though

put a cd in and it plays right but the sound wont come out my sound card but my normal sound works like amsn n stuff but then wen i plug it in the cd drive the sound comes out but i can control the player through the cd drive only on my pc if you get me whats the problem?????

If I've understood correctly, sound is working on your PC but you can't listen to audio CDs, right?

If this is your problem, the question has been asked a number of times before - check that you've got an audio cable attached between your CD drive and your soundcard.

Same problem here and yes there is a sound cable present

i bet it's just alsamixer settings
try the command
amixer set CD unmute 31

What player did you use to try that audio CD?
