cd rom


hai

i installed ubuntu 10.04 its working fine

but cdrom is not visible

how can i rectify this problem

please help me

Not sure what you mean bye ' not visible '. Do you mean there is no desktop icon? If that is it, you can make one. To find out if the system has drivers installed and can 'see' the drive, open a terminal, and run the command 'ls /dev/cd*'. Enter what is between the quotes, not the quotes. It should give you something like this:

ls cd*
cdrom@ cdrw@
If you get nothing, then there is probably a driver problem.

Also try:

Code:
ls /dev/cd* /dev/sr*
for SATA optical drives.

Are you running the 32-bit or the 64-bit version?
Had this issue with the 64-bit version, cdrom only available every five or six reboots.
With the 32-bit version never had this problem anymore.
