I have problems with my CD-Recorder (Ricoh MP7163A). I can't burn a single CD with it. But the big problem is that the whole system freezes and hangs when I try.
Could it be that the Recorder is not supported? or is not properly configured?
I'm using Mandrake 9.1 (only version I have on CD) and I can't record any other, so...
Is there any Mini Distro (diskette) with CD-RW support?
Where and what I should check in configuration/logs to solve this (if it's possible)?
Mandrake is pretty good for finding CD-Writers. Can you read CD-ROM's on the drive?
Also, you might want to post the contents of your /etc/fstab file. Finally, do you have the line "hdc=ide-scsi" in you kernel boot statement in grub or lilo?
also, I can read CDs with the CD-recorder (no problem), I can erase a CDRW and I could write successfully a 4 mb CD with only 1 file, but if I try to burn anything big (500 mb) it hangs the whole computer just at the beginning (0% always)
I don't know where is the limit in size for what works and what doesn't, but it's quite funny.
Any idea?
I re-installed cdrtools(cdrecord) from the website yesterday, but it's the same.
And it recognizes the burner correctly. What can it be?
