cd-r/w burns no more than 16x in FC3
 

actually, this problem I have solved.

I put a thread here, just in case any other guys may fall in the same trap as I did.

os: FC3
kernel: 2.6.10
software: k3b-0.11.18-0.1.3.kde xcdroast-0.98a15-6.i386.
desktop: kd3/gnome
cd-r/w: HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8481B
cd-w disk: 52x compatible

the problem was:
no matter what I try, cd-r/w just burns at about 16x, ant tends to currupt the cd-rom.
I waste half a dozen disk here. :(

my solution:
download kernel-2.6.10 tar ball, compile and install it.
I did two changes to the config file
1, compile ide_cd in kernel, before it was compiled as a module
2,change default codepage for fat partition from cp936 to cp437

I dont know which of the changes do the help, but it does work, and now I use
k3b smoothly.
