cd never played since installed in suse

Hi I am new to linux . I just installed suse9. Everything else including internet connection worked fine and i loved suse at the first sight. But flippin problem wheneven I click cd rom icon following problem apperas. I don't understand what this mean.

Could not mount device.
The reported error was:
/dev/cdrecorder: Input/output error
mount: you must specify the filesystem type

Can anyone sort out this for me pls?

What type of CD is in the CDrom? If it is a music CD, you do not mount them. Just bring up a program like GRIP to play or rip music CD's. If it is a data cd, then you have to mount them, in order to read the data.

It is original music CD and the above mentioned error comes as soon as I click the CD ROM icon in the desktop. Is there any other way?

Try playing cd's with kscd you need to configure it first and I need a wire from my cd player to my sound card,don't need to mount them.
