CD exe file closes immediatly after clicking

I just downloaded Ubunto today. I wanted to set up my WPN111 Netgear adapter. So it stopped working and i put the CD in but it doesnt autorun to the installer, and when i click the program it closes immediately after some terminal thing pops up. Should i have downloaded a different linux os?

Are you trying to install it within Windows? or are you trying to install it as a standalone/dual boot system.

If you are trying to install it within Windows then I don't know, if you are doing a standalone/dual boot then can you give us a step by step of how you have tried to do it?

Im not quite sure the differences, but i chose the option to download using a windows installer. I was trying to download the adapter program when i was on the ubunto desktop. I just wanted to use linux but i didnt have a cd or flashdrive, so im not sure if that still counts as windows? So for the process, i opened the computer and it went straight to the unbunto, i logged in, then i stuck the Netgear Installer CD into the computer, then it did nothing so i clicked on the CD icon and clicked open, it opened the window with autorun.exe, then i clicked on the autorun.exe, but then like the terminal screen flashed

yea that's all, thanks for replying

Sorry I misread your first post. Now I know what you mean so I will go from there. OK, WUBI (Windows UBuntu Installer) is designed to run within Windows but you get to choose what you can use. If you are trying to install an .exe in Linux (for drivers or anything like that) it will not work regardless of it is is WUBI or not. An .exe is a Windows executable they are not for Linux.

EDIT 1: If there is no Linux driver for it (I'd have to look to see if there is or isn't) you may be able to use ndiswrapper. My recommendation at the moment would be to do a Google search for your WPN111 and Ubuntu. This may give you a few leads.

EDIT 2: It seems that netgear uses Atheros drivers in some of their hardware so you may be able to download in the package called firmware-atheros and install it to get your netgear adaptor working.
