Angry cd/dvd issues

i dont have any way to play cd's.nothing works.i have checked all the settings,and made sure cd is enabled,and i am just missing whatever it is i need.i have a half dozen different players,and none are working.they do send info to the cddb,and it shows that info,but i get no sound playing.i do have sound with events etc,and when i test my card.i need sound,and can deal with the dvd player later.thanks!!

Do you have an audio wire connecting your CD-ROM/DVD-ROM to your mainboard or soundcard? I hate the same issue when I used Mandrake 10.0

it is all hooked up and was working fine under windows XP
