CD burning w/Mandrake 9.1 on eMachines m6805

I've got some OpenOffice files I need to burn to CD to use on a Windoze box (printer won't connect to my laptop-no para. port), but I can't seem to get any of my CD-RW software to work properly. I've got a Slimtype Combo 24082K CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive on an eMachines M6805 laptop (Athlon64 3000). I'm using a CD-RW disc, writing at 4x speed and the Windows machine won't open the disc, though K3b claimed the CD was finished successfully. When I tried to reburn, I erased the disc but it told me that "k3b has found a CD-RW, should it be erased?"

Any ideas on how to fix this one? It's kinda maddening to have my files stuck on the laptop like this.

Thanks a ton.

Does the linux machine read the disk? Also cd-rw can be a problem on some drives, do you have a cd-r you could try?

Also, did you enable joliet extensions for windows long filenames?

Ok, trying a few of these things, I've found that

A. The CD has no visible contents on the Linux box itself.

B. I --did-- use Joliet extensions, but still no dice.

C. I've tried as root, too, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Thanks a bunch for all your help.
