Hi,

These are probably part of RH:

- mplayer (video, mp3 etc etc) Download here
- cdrecord / xcdroast Download cdrecord - xcdroast

There are a lot more players/burners out there. If you want to burn dvd's as well, take a look at k3b (kde burning tool).

Hope this helps.

hey druuna,
thanx for the reply. i installed the mplayer but when i try to play a mp3 file i get a message

"Due to paptent licencing, and conflicts between such patent licences and the licences of application source code MPEG -1/2 audio layer 3 (mp3) support has been removed from this application by Red Hat Inc. "

what should i do?

Hi,

Get mad about the whole patent issue that's going on, sign every petition there's is against this nonsense.........

Ok, that said: Try downloading mplayer from the official site (try an older version if mp3 is taken out).

You can get working third party packages for Redhat from freshrpms. Download apt and synaptic for your distro and then use them to install or remove packages. The Redhat 9 packages are no longer maintained because its now a discontinued/legacy distro.
