cd based distro install to harddisks ?
 

how can i install these cd based distros (pclinuxos 2k4,knoppix,demo linux,damn small linux,suse live evl cd,mandrake move,................etc)to my hard disks the way as others major distros(red hat,mandrake,suse,slackware,freebsd..........etc)to do ?

i wanted to install these cd based distros to hds without ramdisk,cd loading...so i can install new applications,make changes setting,upgrade...?
by the way,
should any 1 exps with lycoris up2 ? how is it about ?

With knoppix, the instructions are avaialble on cd. Just copy the stuff in the /knoppix directory to the hd, install a bootloader, and you have a knoppix on your hd.

Mandrake allows you to do an install with iso image files on the hard drive. You need to make a boot floppy for this purpose. With the iso files on the hard drive, you could, after installation mount these files using the loopback device.

You will need to enter your mounted locations in the update sources program to be able to install from these locations.

You are talking about using around 2 Gig if disk space. If you have a large hard drive, that won't be a problem.

Damn Small Linux (latest version, anyway) has a script built-in that allows you to install it to disk.

Then just add apt-get.
