Welcome to LQ
Just to expand a bit on acid_kewpie's great suggestion..
This site is full of all kinds of information. A search will usually reveal quite a bit, the button to search is located in the upper right corner of the page. If you don't find something, feel free to post up about it. Other great tools for finding information for linux:
www.google.com/linux
And check out some of the links in my sig (as well links in the LQ links section, again, at the top of the page ).
Cool

If you just want to play DVD movies on your computer, I think the simplest player to install and run is Ogle. There are step-by-step instructions for installing on red hat here:
http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/groups/dvd/redhat.shtml
Just download the rpm's and install them in the order listed using the command:
rpm -ivh <filename>.rpm

One other thing. If playback of DVD is slow or choppy, you will need to enable DMA for the DVD drive. Instructions on how to do that are here:
http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/groups/dvd/faq.shtml
It is FAQ #31.
