I have a problem with my Linux os, everytime I put in a music cd it does not detect it. And my drive works fine cause, when I put in a dvd it works fine. And my sound card is fine too, but I don't get why its not detecting music cds. I was hoping you guys might have an answer how going about fixing this.
some INFO would help!!!
what distro are you using ? fedora ,ubuntu,mint,rhel,...???
and some hardware specs , deshtop, laptop,is it just one cd/dvd drive or do you have two 1 cd and 1 dvd ?
is the problem with a store bought cd or one you burned ? if burned is it a wright once or rewritable ?
I am using opensuse everytime I put in a cd it won't detect it and I am using a dvd/cd burner drive its a sony one but the drive is not the problem it works fine it has something to do with opensuse it just won't detect any cd but it will will with dvd's and when at the I was on windows a long time it worked fine but theres something missing and my specs are this ...
the specks are fine .
Windows dose things a different way than Linux .
90% of the time you do need to set a "default" program for music cd's ( they are different than movie dvd's)
i do not use suse so...
but there will be a system setting for that .
I was inquiring if it was 1 or 2 drives because "sometimes" the second removable drive might need to be set up ,in order to use it .but with just one cd/dvd combo drive that is not necessary
most of the time you need to open a music cd with the program that you want to use to listen to the music . I use "gnome-cd" - the built in on centOS - or mplayer MY default .
