I have a RH7 linux box next to a phone switch. The switch outputs serial data (9600 8n1) every time a call is made or recieved. If I run Minicom, I see the data. What I need to do is have the linux box capture that data to a file. Something on the order of cat /dev/ttyS0 | /home/svauj/foo
(which doesn't work). This should be something that I can put in initab to auto-start. I thought it would be easy, but I'm drawing a blank. Any suggestions or thoughts on this would be appreciated.

maybe your syntax was bad in your post, but it would need a redirector, not a pipe right?
