capturing realtime audio/video

Dear all,
my aim is to first connect two PC on ethernet, both using Redhat 9.0.
Then connect microphone to one of the PC , start capturing real time audio on this PC , and simultaneously playback the same audio on Second PC, connected via ethernet.Hence My queries are:

1. Is Redhat 9.0 suitable for this application?
2. Do we have any existing utility for this application OR do I need to write some special code for that?
3.Is Vidcat /W3cam of any help?
. pls advice the right track....
thanks...Dharm

Check out VLC's streaming functionality. You will need a camera which has a V4L driver.

If you only want to do audio, how about some VoIP software? Skype perhaps?
