I have installed a script that uses CAPTCHA. however I am unable to view the CAPTCHA image. the requirements for CAPTCHA is PHP 4/5 with GD and FreeType libraries.
When I run phpinfo I already have php5 with GD enabled. However, just for the sake of it, I reinstalled it again restarted apahche with no luck.

If you're running your php script through apache, check apache logs to see what is wrong.
And give us more details, like distro, apache/php version, how did you install them, the captcha script, etc
I figured it out! …..the reason why the image was not showing was because the path of the image was wrong. after path was corrected....presto the image is now showing.
