cant use soundblaster extigy USB card or usb wireless mouse

my SB Extigy USB card doesn't function in slackware...using alsamixer to unmute but doesnt help

and usb wirless mouse moves incorrectly in slackware 10.0 (functioned properly in SuSe 8.0)

Hm. I'm assuming that everything worked under your previous system... have you checked to see if your kernel supports these devices? Actually, I usually recommend that newbies become familiar with recompiling the kernel, just for its own sake. Also, poke about in the /proc filesystem and see if you can't tell how much your system is recognizing these files. Finally, post one boot's worth of /var/log/messages up here so we can see what is going on.
