Cant Run Applications on Ubuntu
 

I just recently installed Ubuntu aside my Windows Xp. It was running fine until at night it told me to run in some sora lower quality display so i pressed yes. First it was fine, the i couldnt run any applications, so i restarted. It still would run applications. Only file explorer would run. If i try to run anything else the screen flashes and the app closes. I then tried to boot my windows. It doesnt run either. I boot it up but it only reaches the windows sign whith the loading bar. No login screen. I googled my question but recieved nothing.


BTW im using Ubuntu 9.04

What's this? What did you agreed for?
Have you tried to start any program from console to see error messages?

It said your monitor cant stand the resolution do you want to go to a lower quality level

First things first, boot your computer using an Ubuntu Live CD, and BACK UP your 7 years of work.

Once that's done, take a deep breath and post back with more specifics about your problem... "at night it told me to run in some sora lower quality display" is not really enough detail to help you I'm afraid.

First off, I have dual monitors. when i was changing the theme and resolution it told me to log in and log back off and so i did. Afterward it said your monitor cant work on this resolution would you like to go to same mode- or something near that- i went on "safemode" and realized i couldent run anyapplications from the panel except file browser. I rebooted, Still the same error. I got no error messgages. Clear enough?

I got the xp to work idk how
