cant install ubuntu 7.04

when i insert the ubuntu live cd i get the error something like
cannot allocate resources 00000 and the laptop hangs
any idea what is wrong ...
i tried installing mandriva 2007 free and it worked
why does not ubuntu work?
i am using thinkpadT61
intel core 2 duo 2Gz 2 gb ram with vista home premium 32 bit
