Cant install onto my Seagate drive

I have a Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 drive that is connected with a serial cable to the MB.
When I start the Red Hat 9 installation the software tells me it cant detect any HDD.
I have looked for drivers and help on the net, no go. Has someone had the same problem, how can I fix it?
Please let me know I'm desperate.

Welcome to LQ!

Get another distribution of Linux. Slackware-10.1 has a sata.i kernel that you can select at boot. I have a Seagate SATA drive and a Hitachi SATA drive and Slackware detects them both.

If you must use RedHat, you'll have to get a SATA kernel...

RedHat 9 does not support SATA. I think it would be much much easier to install Fedora (= RedHat project), if you have the option of doing so.
Just a thought.
