Cant install live cd, wont boot on my computer.
My computer will not install Linux OS from disc CD or DVD they all boot to the splash screen asking what linux to run, i hit enter, screen says loading kernal then goes blank.
Have being trying to install PCLinux, Ubuntu, Mint, with the live CD. at boot it shows all the options for instalation but none of them work just get a blank screen. Its not the disc at fault as it works on other computers. (and they have all been re-burnt at 4x) What is wrong? Try installing debian, it will possibly have driver for your video card. Your video card is the problem!

another thing to try, when most of them give you the options at teh bottom of the screen there are some more menus, try manually setting graphics settyigs
if there is a VESA option choose it, (the resolution will probabbly be crap buy you can select the correct driver once you have installed) |
Hi,
Most CDs have boot options. You can use the 'F1, F2 & F3 to see the boot options in most Linux distributions. As stated you could just select a textual console or possibly a framebuffer to use while setting up. |
Thanks all
Have tried everything suggested with no success. Found out it was as "irishbitte" said the graphics card "Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT" Got to versions to work Debian and Kubuntu the other ten I have dont work. Thanks crapper |
