cant install Linux

ahhhhh!!!!

ive been trying for about 3 months now to install linux on an old machine of mine (amd k6-2)

ive tried just about every major distro.

ive gotten to this :

boot: linux no-hlt

than as the kernel loads, i get an error along the lines of " cannot mount root yadda yadda.......fixed root= yadda yadda......kernel panic, etc......"

its really frustrating....if any one can help, its much aprecitaed

i have 2 old machines; AMD k6-2 and a Cyrix 3

im going to rebuild them both.....and have linux party by myself sunday.....try install this juuunk

soo, ill probably be asking questions here all day
