cant get online with knoppix

Hi people,

ive installed Knoppix to a partition on my hard drive and all is going well

until that is i try to use any of the web browsers

i can get my dialup connection ok but when i try to use any of hte browsers it acts as if im not dialled up, saying " uinknown host" to any website i try to look for

what am i doing wrong? lol what have i missed?

Hi lucy,
Are you able to browse by IP? Try putting http://216.239.37.99/ into your browser, and see if you can connect.
If so, you're connected, but aren't looking up any names. You need to find the IP addresses of your ISP's nameserver(they should have given them to you with the username and password) and add them to /etc/resolv.conf (you'll need to be root). Dial up again and try that.
