i am dragged myself from windows to mint 10 julia..while downloading the screenshots is like <http://www.linuxmint.com/pictures/screenshots/julia/menu.png> but after installation i got only menu like the basic menulike in ubuntu.
am new to mint
i installed inside windows.am i done anything wrong with installation

Welcome to LQ. I see what you mean - you want something like the Windows start menu and it gave you the gnome menu-bar ... which, yes, is the default. The horizontal bars top and bottom of the screen are called "panels".
rt-click on the panel, "add to panel" > select "main menu". That do?
