cant get mandrake 8.2 to initialize a usb mouse neither a ps/2-- linux first time use

cant get mandrake 8.2 to initialize a usb mouse neither a ps/2-- linux first time use

this is my first time linux installation , i got cd 1 and 2 for mandrake linux 8.2 from a friend, and installed them. But i cant get neither of my mouse to work.

I have checked on the kind of control panel and the usb mouse is in there in the usb uhci hop 1 -- with the correct brand and model of the mouse

and it also detect my ps/2 mouse, but neither of them move the pointer once linux starts.

On the installation they were working ok,... ichecked a post that said to add this command to the modules.conf file and i did
alias mouse usbmouse

but nothing happened, i think this might be interesting because i have a usb keyboard too and it does work perfect.

And i am getting an error when the system boots, the first thing it says after entering the boot sequenece it says something like ....

initializing usb device (or module( i cant remember that sharply)) ( usb- ohci).....failed

im sorry but i think thats all the info i can give you at this time, if you need any another info, ill be happy to get it for you, just tell me how to get it
