Cant get any distro to run on compaq c500....wiht wifi enabled

compaq c500 (c508us): celeron m cpu 430 @ 1.73 ghz,,bios hp F.11 smbios 2.4,,1gb ram should be running vista basic running bad 7 trying desperatly to get a vista ios to stabelize it while finding a linux distro to run on it. Hp support center said bios had upgrade available but wont load per their instructions and the vista ios had issue in verify on imgburn(now out of clean discs too). Has anyone had any experiences getting distro working on this model..biggest issue has been the 3 i tried that did boot into desktop kicked my hp/broadcom wifi into a lock so i cant get a wifi signal, cant hardwire the system to the modem(too far away and no cord that long). I have managed to get Bella ios running on another system and have few questions in it as well but as its not a ful;l install yet those questions can wait till i get the dieing system stabelized..i am in Bella now so far havnt had issue, havnt had much chance to play with it yet, as im tring to get the other going again. I know we arent a bios room but if you have any knowledge on biios updates and the like id appreciate enlightenment you can offer. Linux mint and ubuntu do load but no wifi any suggestions there?
thanx for any enlightenment you can send

Putting "linux on compaq c500" into Google provides interesting info, including a link (the second one returned) to solving the wireless problem: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtop...?f=49&t=175623

msfixitplz,

As dolphin_oracle has pointed out, MX-15 should run perfectly well on the C500 despite the Broadcom wifi.

It is a cracking distro and I can thoroughly recommend it.

i will try mx-15 as well dolphin_oracle, does mx-15 have more than one desktop style like some other distros, if so have a suggestion for a 9 year old's pc. she is windows xp-10 knowledgeable, basic to intermediate, she is also very android fluent. i have managed a clean install of vista to get a little better function as the 7 the previous owner clean installed was without product key.

MX comes with XFCE by default. There is an unofficial KDE spin as well. You can get an idea of how it runs from this video.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBr69yNqNLk
