cant find installed programs


i've installed a couple of programs (firefox and amsn) using rpm and it seems to of worked fine

however where are they stored? because i cant find them to open them

usually you will find it in /usr/bin

if u didnt then type :
locate firefox

heema's advice is accurate, but OTOH if you are referring to the RPM's themselves, they would be wherever you downloaded them. Not to split hairs, but when you say "where are they stored?" it's unclear whether you are referring to the installed programs, or the RPM's. -- J.W.

im actually trying to the find the programs that has been installed by the RPM

surely there must be an easier way of locating a program after its been installed?

Sometimes a program will install itself without being put in the menu. To fix this just right click on the start button then click on "menu editor". click on "add application" type in the name of the program and the command in the box that pops up and select the icon you want to use by clicking on the box that has the icon in it. after you have completed this click on the save icon up the top somewhere and you have successfully added the application to your start menu.

installing a program

Pal, soryy to boder you, i am useing REDHAT 9 and i want to add a program which is installed in /usr/share
