Cant find a useful driver downlod for Lexmarks X83

2014-06-15
Hi,
These are my very first steps on this forum.... and I'm in need (urgently) of help to find a download-link/address for a Lexmark X83 driver for use on computers/Laptops with an Ubuntu 14.04 OS.. If you have a link to an earlier version Ubuntu, that might be helpful too.
Regards
Pontus43

Lexmark rarely works and plays well with Linux in my experience.

I could not find an entry for the X83 at the Open Printing database; there was one for the X73. I have no idea whether it will be useful.

I found nothing at the Lexmark website.

Hi: pontus43 & Welcome to Linux Questions-:)

I looked around online and I found this driver but I'm not sure if it will work:-
Sorry pontus43 but all the research I did lead me to finding out that Lexmark doesn't have any drivers for Linux.

HP (Hewett Packard)printers, BTW work very well with Linux if you are considering a new purchase.

Hello Ztcoracat!
Thank's for helping me. The french link was helpful updating the Lexmark X83; but it still doesn't communicates with Ubuntu 14.04 in both directions properly. I'm now able to scan documents on the X83 and save/store/stock that document on the computer....from there I'm abel to print it on a HP-machine connected to another USB

Hello Frankbell!
Thank's for helping me. No, the X73 driver can't be used for the X83 machine on Ubuntu 14.04 operated units.Pitty, my Lexmark machine is pretty old, but it's pretty good....unfortunately solely on old WIN-OS; but there the problems starts too already when using a WIN-7 operated unit :(
regards

Your Welcome!-:)

Glad you can scan now.

If I knew how to build a driver from source I'd teach you. Sorry, that I don't:-
It's on my 'To Do' list--
