i need to edit xorg.conf because the drivers for my video card aren't working and i can't get into gnome.

How do i edit Xorg.conf? i've tried everything, i am logged in as root, i've tryed nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf, i get a blank file...nothing in it..and nano says...new file xorg.conf, i've tryed vi, same thing, i've tryed running xorgconfigure, i get..command not found...
i'm new to linux, can anyone advise me? what am i doing wrong? is there a way to roll back xorg? or to edit it and put the drivers back to what they were before?
i'm using fedora core 2 by the way...

If you are getting a blank file, that means that you are typing the wrong name at the terminal, so nano, vi, whatever, creates a new file instead. Use the tab completition (press tab) to avoid "spelling" errors on the console. Keep also in mind that Linux is case sensitve, unlike Windows, meaning that Xorg is different of xorg which is different of XORG.

P.S: you do, have to be root to edit not only that file, but any file outside your /home/user directory

Try "xorgconfig". If that doesn't work, you might not have X installed
Is this a new install? If not, did you have X working before?
