cant dial to the internet if not in root :(


hi, can some1 help me? im running slackware and i cant use
the command to dial up to the internet unless im in root
how do i make it so i can dial up from a normal user
account? i dial up using TTYS0. Please help me, thanks Gizm0

chmod 4755 /usr/sbin/pppd

The number 4 above should setuid the pppd to root when executed by a normal user.

But you forget to say that this is a security hole in your machine. Why not say something like:

Make your self a member of the sudo group (Wheel) and the do something like: sudo <command> or sudo su - and your passwd? This is a much more secure solution then running apps setuid ..
