can't compile libgtop program

dear all,
im new to linux and i am working on getting some system related information in my program.

i installed glib-2 and libgtop-2 using:

$ configure
$ make
$ make install

i tried to compile "first.c" in src/libgtop-2/examples and i am getting loads of "header file not found" and "constant undefined errors"... i tried this on both redhat and suse.

can someone plz tell me the steps to complete my task?

You should post the actual errors, for allot of people, it's much easier to understand the errors printed compared to trying to guess what kind of errors you're getting. Probably would get a more accurate diagnosis with them. Post the command you issued and everything after till the prompt comes back.
