cant access shell romotely


hi all,

i am a newbie ... lol
however i have done a lots dns setup - ftp and mail account etc...

my experence was on a sever already set up and goin...

so the other day i thought i would set up my own @ home on the network


so i went 4 it

every thing went well
bar i cant seem to set up shell to be access external as iin from my windows machine on the same network....

i can ping the ip = 192.169.0.69 that fine

i goto into putty and ssh the ip and get a request non allowed

can anyone help pls

sure, you have to turn on the sshd, you don't say what distribution you use, but redhat has a console based program called 'setup' that allows you to turn on and off daemon processes such as sshd

if you use setup you have to restart the machine instead after setup use /sbin/service sshd start
