cant access home any more grrr
 

on my desktop my home icon when I click it to open nothing happens

Im now using mandrake 9.2

icon isnt even on my task bar like it used to be in 9.1

I can access home dir via a terminal but not from clicking icon nothing happens

is mandrake 9.2 unstable ? I had many programs files just vanish, even all my terminals disappeared.. so i had to reinstalll but now cant access home dir.

what do I do to FIX this before i throw linux away :(

and for some reason mandrake didnt install gaim...

so I had to download it, but i cant do anything cause im not fully used to terminals only to some extent and need to get tomy home dir via icon to get to gaim to start it.

Well first of all your home directory is working if you can get to it by terminal or command line. Its most likely a broken link, in which most icons on a desktop are. It could also be that your file manager isn't loading properly or isn't running to open up from that icon, etc.

Why do you need to get to your home directory from the icon to start gaim? If its installed, just create a new icon or menu to launch or just type:

gaim &

From a terminal to launch it.

These are very simple tasks your giving up on or making it harder than what it really seems. What desktop are you using or window manager, KDE or Gnome, etc? That might help give more details to fix your issues.

I was using KDE but I reinstalled 9.1 for some reason using 9.2 alot of my programs in my start menu would vanish in the end I had only 3-4 menu's left, not sure what was going on but went bck to 9.1
