Canon MP130 printer install on Linux Mint 17
Just installed the wonderful Mint 17 on a 2006 Vaio laptop with XP. Can I simply insert my Canon MP 130 software disc like I did with XP and follow the instructions or do I have a few hoops to pass through?

You will have to setup with cups when you try to add printer in cups(cups has a driver search option) you can search for the driver for your printer which canon says not supported.
canon ip1500 is the driver that they say will work. http://osdir.com/ml/linux.printing.c.../msg00037.html http://www.lowlevel.cz/log/pivot/entry.php?id=40 http://linux.cergynux.net/canon/ |
printer install MP130 Canon
Thanks for the superb info, detailed, websites etc. Last question is: this printer is fairly old; I'e cleaned the ink absorbers once, and looking ahead at cloud printing, so as a new Mint user, what's the go-to way to print from Linux?
