cannot view on tv
 

Hi

I have this

ATI Radeon 256MB PCIe x16 adapter, VGA, DVI-I, TV out, full height

running on debian etch, struggling to get output.

When i run the command dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg, I do the configs

after restarting the gdm service it flickers twice and gives me an error.
sorry i cannot provide the error for now but thought I should just post this question

any ideas

Are you able to view the command and just not the gui?

If you can't view anything, it's probably the pc/laptop configuration (switching between monitors)

If you just can't view the gui, the double flash brings to mind problems with resolution during the probe.

Have you tried using a really low resolution (like 320 x 240) with 16 colors (or greyscale) to see if it works then? If it did that would mean your just in for, hopefully, a good time tweaking your Xwindows config

yes I can view the command line and not the GUI, I think it makes sense to say its the resolution
